Lil Wayne was banished to solitary confinement at Riker’s Island on Monday (October 4), reports New York Daily News. The confinement punishment stems from a previous prison write-up in May, when correctional officers found contraband in his cell.
During a surprise search, officers found a charger and ear phones for a watch that doubled as a digital music player, items the rapper was not authorized to have. According to the initial report, another inmate tipped off prison officials about the items.
Due to the disciplinary infraction, Weezy will be confined to an isolation cell for up to 23 hours a day until his scheduled release on November 4, sources told the Daily News. In the new area Wayne is being housed in, he will not be in contact with any other inmates. ”He’s not in an area where he is mingling with other inmates — ever,” a Correction Department source said.
Before the infraction, Weezy spent his day by having coffee in the morning, making phone calls, showering, reading fan mail, and listening to ESPN radio before having lunch with other inmates.
While he lived in a single-inmate cell, he was able to mingle with other inmates between breakfast and lights-out in the evening. Now, those social activities are gone. Even when he gets out of the isolation cell, he will still be segregated from all other inmates.
