A trailer for a documentary about beloved hip hop act A Tribe Called Quest hit the Internet this week, prompting a flurry of anticipation for fans of the innovative 1990s crew that was largely responsible for bringing 'alternative rap' to the masses. The footage features luminaries such as ?uestlove of the Roots, rapper/producer Large Professor and more sharing their thoughts on the group. It also showcases ongoing tensions between the members of ATCQ, and former frontman Q-Tip has tweeted his displeasure with the way the band is portrayed.
"I am not in support of the A Tribe Called Quest documentary," Tip tweeted Thursday. "The filmmaker should respect the band to the point of honoring the few requests that's was made abt the piece."
Beats, Rhymes & Fights, directed by actor Michael Rapaport, is set to premiere prior to the Sundance Film Festival.
